From Selma’s Legacy to Tomorrow’s Leaders.
One of the most meaningful moments of our 2026 Freedom Fund Dinner was presenting a $2,000 gift to the NAACP Selma – Dallas County Branch to help launch three new youth programs (Youth Council, Scholarship, and ACT-SO).
Selma is more than a place on a map—it is sacred ground in the ongoing struggle for civil rights. It is where ordinary people demonstrated extraordinary courage, where the fight for voting rights changed the course of our nation’s history, and where generations of leaders showed us that lasting change begins with courageous action.
Today, we honor that legacy by investing in the next generation.
This gift is more than a donation—it’s a commitment. A commitment to ensuring that young people have the opportunity to learn, lead, organize, and carry the torch of justice forward. By supporting new youth programming in Selma, we are helping cultivate future advocates, changemakers, and community leaders who will continue the work that began on the Edmund Pettus Bridge and lives on in communities across the country.
At the NAACP Santa Rosa-Sonoma County Branch, we believe our history calls us not only to remember—but to act. As one branch supporting another, we are reminded that our movement is strongest when we invest in one another.
Together, we honor the past by empowering the future.
